No problem, Judy. We're glad you are here.
Sadly, we didn't have time to train our students how to use the tools. We were closed so quickly.
yes, we will be holding ACRs
I have to do 2 Annual reviews
yes- we did an IEP yesterday
yes, I think our district is leaning that way
not sure but we are in the midst of annual review season
We are planning to do those in my district in NY starting after our "April break"
Yes, IEP meetings: Annuals
I’m not sure
Yes. We have had many meetings but will have more.
Yes. but not sure how
yes I have been using conference calls
we are currently expected to at this point
Brittany, I use a timer and have the students take turns reading to me in Zoom. I share a passage.
Not usually. You could also share it on a screen but have the student on the phone.
There are different versions of Zoom with different levels of security (and price) depending on which version you are using they may be more vulnerable for hacking.
our problem we have in our district is about half our student population do not have access to internet or a device that they can use. This is why it is taking us a long time to formulate a way to continue with goal monitoring and instruction
Alexandra, Similar issue here
I am also experiencing the same issue Alexandra.
For students without consistent access to internet - you can provide support to student and/or family through phone conferencing.
How well does this work for speech therapy? Do you have any special tips/tools?
Alexandria, same issue in our district
We sent Chromebooks home with our 3-12 kids. My problem is getting them to accept my Google Classroom invites. I have called, emailed, Dojo'd..... Then, the ones that have accepted the invite are not doing any of the work. I do teach kids with emotional impairments, but still...... How are you getting them on when they have never practiced/new to them? I've also completed Screencastify videos to help them navigate Google Classroom as well as parent and student guides. Struggling here.
Works great for speech therapy - we'll talk about it shortly.
Yes, agree with Tara
that's great your district has the availability of technology for your kiddos, but we don't :(
My concern is, for those without internet access, trying to teach over the phone. We are sending home paper copies of things. But very hard when we can’t see them. This is why, as a regular ed teacher, I want assistance
We were also sending paper copies, but we are no longer allowed in the buildings to print and put packages together.
We are not allowed in our building either
Amanda, Zoom has a great help center: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/categories/200101697-Getting-Started
You're welcome :)
agree with Tammy!
Our district is allowing administration in buildings starting Monday, we have 1 teacher per grade level also going to make packets to mail home.
Our C&I department and Student Support Services sent out our packets.
We created them and shared them in Google Docs
Our administration isn't allowed in the building now for 3 weeks- at minimum. We are all out.
What are some secure online platforms? Can counseling be provided online?
When you have a group online the other parents can see the students. What about confidentiality issues?
Katherine, not multiple shares at the same time but they can annotate at the same time.
Elizabeth - Counseling can absolutely be provided online.
I can get it added for sure. Might not be when you get the link but I'll work on it!
